I've been slacking, but not totally - here are a few things from the last couple of months.
Making Orange Juice...
Breakfast is complete!
I don't have a picture, but over about three days, I cut ribbon and tied it on around 100 little bells for my upcoming wedding. That's such a pain in the butt! I'm glad they are done!
Sewed a couple of dresses for Ashley. link to the tutorial is here.
My first one - used an old bandana and long sleeved shirt she already had. Used the extra fabric to make a heart for the shirt.
Loving this one! had the shirt already and picked up the bandana at walmart. used the extra fabric to make the puzzle piece. April is Autism Awareness Month. LIGHT IT UP BLUE!
Both dresses are completely done by hand, so I hope they last. The black one has been washed and worn again - I washed it on cold inside out and hung it to dry, and the heart didn't fray very much, so hopefully they both last until she outgrows them.
So that's what I've been up to. I need to get more food up and out there! I started some bowtie pasta but they are not done yet.
Until next time, hope you enjoyed!

I haven't forgotten about this - really!
Things have been busy here - wedding prep is starting to take up more of my time... I thought I'd have more time to do both! I have some food to post, but haven't had time to get the pictures all moved. I will do that this week - I promise!

Sausage Links and other things.
I apologize that it's been so long since my last post - last week left me wiped out! Ever dealt with lice before? If you haven't, be glad! If you have, you have my sympathy, because it sucked! We've now dealt with it twice in five weeks, and hope it is gone forever!
Anyhow, so after all the cleaning I did each day, I was exhausted and in bed every night, and didn't make new food until last night.
So here's my easy project for the day - sausage links. Had to complete my breakfast theme, right?
Two pieces of brown felt.
Sewn down the sides.
Turn inside out, stuff, and drawstring the ends shut, and tie them.
Finished sausage links!
Easy - fifteen minutes of work.
I will at some point do hotdogs, I think the same way. With a dark pink color and probably longer, but the idea is exactly the same.
So there you go! Hopefully something new tomorrow!

Paper Bag
Okay, so this one is not food, but definitely goes with my food, and was fun (and easy!) to make. With all the craziness we've had this weekend, something quick and easy was a good choice!
This came from the same tutorial as the chips - I just looked at her pictures and tried to follow them - pretty easy.
I bought my first item for my felt food project - Pinking Shears. They are the scissors that make a zigzag pattern across the fabric. I will be using them for several food projects, so keep an eye out for them!
Shears!
Pieces - two, that's it!
Line them up, sew them together on the sides and bottom.
The next part was a little tricky, you take the bag and fold the little openings down and sew them.
Turn the bag right side out, and you are done!
Open bag. Closed bag below.
This took about fifteen minutes. Easy!

Pancakes
I'm a bit behind in posting as we've had a crazy weekend, so I have a few separate posts to get put up today and tomorrow.
For my pancakes I was inspired by this tutorial. I used little squares of a light yellow for the butter, dark brown for the syrup, and light brown for the pancakes.
The pieces for the pancakes!
Sewed the butter to the syrup - when I was almost done, I put a little stuffing into the butter squares. Then I sewed the syrup to the top of the pancake - no stuffing needed!
Sewed the two pancake pieces together, and stuffed. I didn't use much stuffing because I wanted them to be fairly flat.
Finished Pancakes!
Yum! If you don't want the butter and syrup to show on the bottom pancake, you can turn it upsidedown, like in the picture.
These took about an hour to make.
Enjoy! I will probably put up the other two posts tomorrow, so stay tuned!

Potato Chips
Next up in my felt food project - a bag of potato chips!
These were inspired by this tutorial, and I hope to do the whole set, but since I already had what I needed to do the chips, they were first.
Here are all of the pieces, minus the velcro. You can see that I hadn't quite cut out all the chips when I took this picture. My piece of felt fit 23 of my chips... so 20 are my chips, and the other three went on the outside of the chip bag.
Here is the front of the bag completed. I embroidered (the best I can) "chips" and sewed them on, along with three of my chips.
After that, I turned the pieces inside out, and put the velcro on the top to make the bag seal shut. Then I sewed up the sides, leaving some space and an opening at the bottom. Next, I turned it the right way, and added two rows of stitches near the bottom to close it, but to make it look like the bottom of a chip bag.
Finished! I didn't do anything to the chips because I liked them the way they are, but you could double them up and sew together to make them thicker, or add lines to make them looked like the ridged chips. For now, I'm leaving them as is, but I might change that later.
This one took me a lot longer than I thought it would - about three hours total.
Hope you like them!

Fried Eggs
These eggs were really easy to make - and were my first food item because I had enough yellow and white felt to make them! I freehanded the whites and traced a circle for the yolks.
The pieces layed out for two eggs. I used cotton balls for the stuffing in the yolk, because I didn't have any stuffing left at home.
Sewing the yolk onto the top white - when it was nearly done, I shoved the cotton ball in, and finished stitching.
Stitched the two whites together, and trimmed off bits that didn't line up together.
Two finished fried eggs! yummy!
From start to finish, it took me about a half hour to cut out and sew these two eggs.
Hope you like them!

Welcome to Felt Food For Ashley!
In a quest to discover something better than plastic food toys - which are easily broken, and often not realistically colored, I found people all over the internet creating food out of felt. I was in love! Felt is cheap to buy, and easy to work with. Even beginners can work with felt.
Everything I am making is done entirely by hand - no sewing machines (because mine doesn't work) They take a half hour to two hours to create.
Most of the items I make are of my own design. However, if I use a pattern or have a specific place I saw them at, I will link to it.
My goal with this blog, really is just to show what I've made for others to see. I'm not making any patterns, nor do I have any intention to sell felt food. I'm just making them for my daughter.
The first batch of them are to be saved and given to her on her 2nd birthday. That gives me just under five months to make them! My plan is to create one item each night.
Thanks for looking, and enjoy!
